About Us
The Story
Candina Weston spent over 20 years working as a technology executive in Seattle, Paris, Singapore and Sydney, discovering how to balance work, with raising children, and staying healthy. For years, that meant being as efficient as possible, travelling with carry-on luggage only, which influenced everything about the way she packed and dressed.
Eight years in Paris where her children were born shaped the way she thinks about style and fashion. “Parisians do a great job of effortless style that is accessible to everyone".
She launched GLM as a brand for people living this life and seeking balance. The design objective is ethical, functional and stylish, sticking to a simple and classic range. “I wanted to build this for my family, and lead by example in the way I run a business. So GLM is derived from my family's initials."
GLM launched with laptop bags, grounded in years of experience in technology and working with PC manufacturers. So much goes into the design of a beautiful device and they are an important tool for work — Candina wanted to make the bags stylish and consistent with the reality of a workday, going from multiple locations in a day and sometimes evening.
She is focused on using the most sustainable materials available to source: plant-based vegan leather, and 100% recycled fabrics that are protective and durable. The bags are made to travel, so they also had to be light and shaped to slip easily into larger bags and airplane compartments.
Postural balance is also a large focus. Many people experience problems from carrying all their weight on one side, so she designed the bags to be carried on the opposite shoulder to your handbag or gym bag, and slip into a larger bag when needed. Working with a musculoskeletal specialist to design a detachable strap that helps distribute the tech load.
Candina spent a great deal of time on the design to get it right and deliver a high-quality product that truly meets the demands of working professionals. “I believe that so many professionals, most you don’t hear about, are doing great things to move the world forward in a positive way. I truly want our products to be worthy of how much you do”.
